WE'RE BACK - Sahuaros Return

Published Mar 9, 2020

Sporting AZ FC is proud to announce the return of the team that built the club into a legend of American soccer, the Arizona Sahuaros.

Founded in 1989, the club was renamed Arizona Sahuaros in 1997 and in 2002 were crowned inaugural champions of the Men’s Premier Soccer League, now the NPSL. Now, a year after the club’s 30th anniversary celebration, the Sahuaros name is back, as the team reforms to compete alongside Sporting AZ FC in the United Premier Soccer League.

“It’s an exciting time for us at the club, with lots of new energy and plans for the future,” said Sporting General Manager Tim Marchisotto. “The Sahuaros name is so iconic and so recognizable for longtime soccer fans, especially in Arizona, and now is the right time to reintroduce that to a new generation in our community.”

The Sahuaros are holding an open tryout at Eagles Park in Mesa, AZ on Sunday, March 15 at 10:00 a.m. Details can be found at
