Rangers Fan Dies in Lisbon: Following a Europa League game against Benfica, a Rangers supporter has passed away in Lisbon.
Thomas McAllister, a 25-year-old from Glasgow, was in Portugal for the round of 16 match on Thursday that concluded with a 2-2 draw.
The leaders of the Scottish Premiership have announced they are maintaining ongoing communication with Portuguese and British officials regarding the matter.
The British Foreign Office has stated that it supports Mr. McAllister’s family and has confirmed liaisons with Portuguese officials.
Rangers’ CEO, James Bisgrove, expressed his profound sympathy:
“From all of us at the club, we extend our deepest condolences to Thomas’s family, friends, and close ones.” The devastating news has profoundly affected the entire Rangers community. It is a tragedy that someone should attend a football match and not make it back home.
