Porto defender Pepe reveals Arsenal player: During their recent Champions League encounter on Tuesday, FC Porto’s Pepe disclosed their strategy was to “neutralize” Arsenal’s captain, Martin Odegaard.
Porto secured a victory in the first leg with a score of 1-0, while Leandro Trossard’s goal in the first half at the Emirates Stadium brought the aggregate score level in the second leg.
The match extended beyond normal time, ending in a 120-minute deadlock, which led to a deciding penalty shoot-out.
Pepe mentioned their tactical approach post-match, focusing on limiting Odegaard, who assisted Trossard’s goal, in their gameplay.
He shared with DAZN: “We recognize Arsenal’s strengths, especially their scoring prowess in the Premier League. We planned to control Odegaard’s influence and intercept his plays. We executed our plan, but sadly, we didn’t score. In the end, they were somewhat luckier.”
