BAYERN MUNICH 3-0 LAZIO. England captain Harry Kane’s impressive double led Bayern Munich to a comeback victory over Lazio, with a 3-0 win securing a 3-1 aggregate score in their Champions League knockout tie.
Despite Lazio’s initial dominance and a missed opportunity from Ciro Immobile, Kane’s pivotal goals and Thomas Muller’s finish from Matthijs de Ligt’s volley swung the match in Bayern’s favor.
The win propelled Bayern into the quarter-finals for the twelfth time in thirteen seasons and alleviated pressure on outgoing manager Thomas Tuchel.
On the other hand, Lazio exited the tournament without breaking their record of never winning a Champions League knockout tie, failing to register a shot on target.
Talking Point: Bayern Prove Their Strength Remains Intact
Bayern Munich, who people thought were struggling, showed they are still strong by reaching the Champions League quarter-finals.
They won thanks to great plays by Harry Kane and Thomas Muller, not so much because of team effort.
Even though they beat Lazio, who has never won at this stage in the Champions League, we shouldn’t rush to say Bayern is back to their best. But it also shows that they might be doing better than some thought.
Match’s Top Performer: Thomas Muller (Bayern Munich)
His intelligent positioning led to the opening goal, and then Muller was ideally situated to net the crucial second goal. He exemplified Bayern’s experience and sharp finishing that carried them through this match.
